Adam Holý: Překrásná, dokonalá tvář

Adam Holý dospěl do věku, kdy už fotografoval takřka všechno, co existuje. Teď chce, zdá se, fotografovat samotnou existenci. A ani jí vlastně nechce fotografovat, spíš jen nechat proudit. Samozřejmě to nakonec někdo musí vybrat, probrat a pověsit. Ale to Adama tolik netrápí.
Adam značnou část letošního roku strávil na cestách, v jižní i severní Americe, ale i všemožně jinde. Přesná místa nejsou vlastně podstatná, důležitá je odtrženost. Tou se nechává unášet, aby z ní destiloval nové světy, zahalené mystikou a možností překročení.
Když jsme s Adamem debatovali nad výběrem fotografií z několika set negativů, vyjádřil přání, aby snímky vypadaly tak, jakoby je nikdo nefotil, jakoby vznikly spontánně samy od sebe, bez čočky a spouště, ba dokonce bez lidského přičinění. Tato nedosažitelná maxima je možná dobrým klíčem k výstavě, která by se měla v ideálním případě ukazovat a prezentovat sama, jen pomocí oscilace mezi náznakem příběhu a tajemnou atmosférou. Název výstavy vymyslel Adam s pomocí sv. Jana od Kříže. Zbývá jen ji pověsit relativně rovně.

Adam Holý came to the age when he has photographed almost everything existing. Now his aim is to shoot the very existence, at least it seems like it. And he even does not really want to shoot, rather just let it flow. Of course, someone has to choose, discuss, and hang it then.
Adam has spent a significant part of this year traveling, mostly in South and North America .The exact locations are not really substantial, important is the estrangement. Adam lets himself be drifted away in order to distill new worlds, shrouded in mystique and possible transcendence.
When we discussed with Adam the selection from several hundreds of negatives, he expressed the wish that the pictures would look as if they were actually taken by no-one, as if they arose spontaneously by themselves, without a lens or a shutter, or even without any human involvement. This unattainable maximum may possibly be a good key to the show, which should ideally appear and present itself just through the oscillation between a shady story and questionable atmosphere. The title of the exhibition Adam invented with the help of St. John of the Cross. It’s all about to hang it relatively straight.
